If you are just getting started with golf and don’t know the rules yet, don’t worry! The practical minimum, coupled with club etiquette, is usually set out on the player’s scorecard. But if your goal is not just participation, but a confident victory, you need to know the rules of golf by heart: penalties are awarded for mistakes, and in a match game you will have to concede the hole to the opposing side.
The essence of golf boils down to three basic principles:
Play the field as it is.
Play the ball as it lays down.
And if neither one nor the other is impossible, do justice.
There is a strict prohibition on changing the disposition of the ball before hitting, that is, you cannot push, straighten, push or crush the grass, bend or break off the branches of bushes. If the ball flew into an obstacle course or a ditch of water, the rules of golf allow you to touch the surrounding obstacles with your body or club only at the moment of hitting.
In scoring, it is also an offense to hit the ball by another golfer who is already on the green. If the ball was moved by another participant in the game, the owner is entitled to correct it, however, the referee and other golfers must be notified of this.

What else do you need to know?
It is allowed to handle the ball in the putting green.
It is allowed to clean the turf from the ball.
It is allowed to level the potholes from the holes passed and previously launched balls (but only if they were left by you).
Traces left by rivals are not allowed to be touched by the rules of the game of golf.
It is considered an extremely gross oversight to hit the flag with the ball.
Penalties are possible for causing inconvenience to other golfers – for example, occupying the line of strike of one of the opponents at the moment when he is preparing to strike.
Incorrect positioning of the ball is also regarded as an attempt to illegally alleviate one’s fate. The classic rules of the game of golf require the ball to be positioned strictly between the tee markers, without running ahead. Some clubs allow the ball to be positioned behind the tee markers, but no further than a distance equal to the length of two clubs.
During the competition, to facilitate the keeping of the score, the rules of golf oblige participants to apply identifying marks on the balls in advance. “Nobody’s” ball is considered lost. If the ball is lost on the field or out of order, the player is given five minutes to substitute, and sanctions are imposed for absent-mindedness.
As you can see, accuracy, tact and precision and attentiveness are the best qualities for golf!
